Chloride salts turn up in more places than most people expect. These are the industries we supply most often.
IP, BP, USP and injectable grades of sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride and magnesium chloride are used to manufacture electrolyte, saline and other formulations. Pharma buyers need the monograph-tested grade and the paperwork that goes with it.
Food grade calcium chloride (E509) firms cheese and canned vegetables. Potassium chloride (E508) cuts sodium in salt blends. Magnesium chloride (E511) is the traditional coagulant for tofu.
LR, AR and ACS reagents for analysis, buffers, titrations and teaching. Barium chloride is the go-to reagent for sulphate tests, and ferric chloride for several colour tests.
Ferric chloride works as a coagulant. It helps settle suspended solids and remove phosphate from water and effluent.
Fused calcium chloride speeds up the setting of concrete in cold conditions and is used for dust control on unpaved roads and for de-icing.
Manganese chloride, barium chloride and ferric chloride are starting materials for other metal salts, catalysts and specialty chemicals.
Most chloride salts are easy to store if you keep them dry. Calcium chloride, magnesium chloride and ferric chloride are hygroscopic. Leave a bag open in a humid store and they will start to cake or even turn liquid. Keep them in the original sealed packing, in a cool, dry place, and close partly used bags properly.
Ferric chloride is corrosive to metals, so store and handle it in plastic or lined containers. Barium chloride is toxic if swallowed. Wear gloves and goggles, avoid breathing the dust, and follow the SDS. In original sealed packing, our chlorides typically have a shelf life of 1 to 3 years, depending on the product.
We do not publish one fixed price for chlorides, because it would be wrong for most buyers. The price of calcium chloride, sodium chloride or any other chloride depends on the grade (LR costs far less than USP or injectable), the quantity, the packing and the delivery location. Calcium chloride has the widest grade range in our list, eleven in total. Pharma companies buy the IP, BP, USP and injectable grades for electrolyte formulations. Food processors use the food grade (E509) as a firming agent in cheese, tofu and canned vegetables. Labs use LR, AR and ACS grades, often as a drying agent.

This is not table salt. Our sodium chloride is made for pharma manufacturing and laboratory work, where impurity limits are far tighter than for edible salt. IP, BP and USP grades, plus the three injectable grades, go into saline and electrolyte formulations. AR and ACS grades are used for buffers, standard solutions and QC testing. LR covers routine lab use.

Yellow-brown crystalline lumps with a strong iron colour. Ferric chloride hexahydrate is best known as a coagulant in water and wastewater treatment. It is also used for etching copper and other metals, as a catalyst in chemical synthesis and as a lab reagent (the phenol test is the classic example). It is corrosive to metal, so we ship it in lined bags or plastic drums.

Standard packing is 25 kg and 50 kg HDPE bags with an inner liner, plus drum packing. Hygroscopic salts like calcium chloride and magnesium chloride are sealed tightly so they reach you dry. If you need a different pack size, ask.
Minimum order quantity depends on the product and grade, and for most chlorides it falls between 100 kg and 500 kg. Typical dispatch time is 3 to 7 days from order confirmation.

Hydrated chlorides hold water of crystallisation inside the crystal. Calcium chloride dihydrate carries two water molecules, magnesium chloride hexahydrate carries six. Anhydrous or fused forms have that water removed. This changes molecular weight and assay, so check which form your formula or method specifies.
Keep them in the original sealed packing in a cool, dry place. Calcium, magnesium and ferric chloride absorb moisture from the air, so close opened bags well. Store ferric chloride in plastic or lined containers because it corrodes metal.
